From my window I can see....

Lol....I wish....This is a library pattern in PCStitch Pattern Viewer called 'Ocean View' by Mary Ellen Yanich and from the book 'More Seaside Stitches' from Jeanette Crews Designs Inc below, which I have just ordered from Sydney. I love anything to do with the beach, so I think I will get a lot of use out of it.

I never did get around to posting pics of future projects, so this is Fairy Penguins from 'Australian Cross Stitch' by Gillian Souter (the Aussie map & Whale Fluke are also from this book) and the next pic is Australian Sea-Lions.

Not a lot to report

Haven't really done a lot this week, or last for that matter. In rather a lot of pain with my neck and shoulder which is preventing me from getting any real stitching done. Managed to put the water around Australia and just waiting to get the greens and orangey-brown to complete it.

Only a small bit done on the second bird's tail and the fence and grass stalks. Until my shoulder comes good, I don't think I'll be doing any stitching on my Kookas unless I put it in a hoop as it's too difficult to hold the lap frame.

Making mess and no progress...

I truly believe the winter solstice hit my place last month and just stayed. Well, that's my excuse anyway, for not getting as much done as I would like. Have not done anything substantial on the Kookas, but have started a couple of smaller projects like the Australia outline and the Whale Fluke which I completed today. This one is a gift for my partner who wants to mount it in a brass porthole frame. Personally I think something that is only 75 x 75 is not really worth the expense, but it's his to do with what he wants.

Did a quick PS job to see what it would look like:

And this is the Australia outline, not yet finished as I ran out of one of the greens and don't have the blue for the sea. It's a sampler but I don't like the alphabet around it.
I have done consectutive half stitches instead a full stitch every second square for the state borders.

Weekend update

Thought I'd get a bit more done on the grass & wheat stalks before the weekend was over. I'm hoping to start his mate this week, well actually, that's a bit of his tail feathers at the bottom. If I ever find time during daylight hours I should get some more of his bib and the lighter colours done.
Happy stitching, Girls!

TGIF...

Woohoo, Friday is finally here! I was beginning to think I would never see it. So today was spent just relaxing and doing a bit of stitching and dreaming about our Tasmania holiday in September. Ten whole days in a seaside cottage, no kids and no work. A lovely couple I did some work for recently have given us the use of their holiday home and car down there, so all we have to do is book the flights, pack our bags and go. How good is that? In between jobs this week, I've been planning the 'must see and do' list. Definitely at the top is lighthouses, I love them and there are heaps of them scattered right around Tasmania and on tiny islands. We'll only be seeing the ones on the SE part of Tassie as we'll be staying at Verona Sands, which is on a peninsula about 60km south of Hobart. South Bruny Island is right across from there and has one of the oldest lightstations in Australia. I will have my list over on the right with a few links to visit places of interest.
So, back to the kooka. Got a bit done today although it's a bit hard to see his white bib. I bought some coloured aida to to some small items for gifts. Goodness knows where I think I'm finding all this time to do them. Will post some pics later and yes, they're all Australian themed. I just can't help myself when it comes to our Aussie creatures.
Happy stitching, everyone.
